Travel to Canaima, Venezuela to see the largest waterfall in the world “Salto del Angel” or Angel Falls in English.

Fun Facts About Angel Falls:
– The Angel falls is the tallest waterfall in the world falling 3,212 feet (979m) located in the Canaima National Park in Venezuela.
-Angel Fall is 15 times higher than the Niagara falls
– The Angel fall was named after Jimmy Angel , a Northamerican aviator, who dicovered the falls in 1937. Before Jimmy Angel, the natives had named the waterfall Churún Merú.

How to get there? By Air: The falls are 50km from  Canaima Airpot. From there you could either take a smaller plane and fly to Canaima Lagoon. From the Lagoon you can hike to the falls.

By water: From the city of Canaima you can travel by a motorized canoe, called curiara, up the Carrao River and the Churun river to an point where you can hike through the jungle to the falls.

Other places to visit:
-Laguna de Canaima: Laguna de Canaima is located in the Canaima National Park. The water’s color is red due to its minerals and the sand is pink due to the Quartz.
– Smaller waterfalls in the National Park: Salto del Sapo, Salto Golondrinas, Salto Ucaima, Salto Hacha, Salto El Sapito
-Raul Leoni Hydroelectric Power Station or Guri Dam

When is a good time to visit: Any time of the years is good. Yet, the falls are more spectacular in the rainy season, May to November.

    I really like the concept behind your blog…its a very interesting take on the typical “travel blog” and I like how you relate must-see places to must-see movies.
    Also, being from Venezuela myself, as well as a sucker for cartoons, I love that you related UP to Angel Falls! 😉

    Something I think could be cool to add to the blog could be clips from the movies you talk about (in addition to the movie posters). That way maybe you could show the clips in which the particular destination is shown?

    Just a thought… 😉
